If I wake up in the morning living in a condition of sin which I have consciously chosen (in a sexual relationship with anyone other than my spouse is a very common one), then I have a conflict with God. My conscience is not clear with God.
On the other hand, a person who has chosen to depend on God to lead them with a clear conscience is scorned by our culture. And all kinds of assumptions are made as to what this person thinks about others. This is the devil’s greatest tactic: to influence people to project their own thoughts onto others, and then judge and condemn them.
